Raphael Gottardo
Raphael completed his PhD in statistics at the university of Washington under the supervision of Adrian Raftery. Prior to this, he graduated in 2000 with a Master’s degree in applied mathematics from ISTIL engineering school in Lyon, France. Then, he went to Portland, OR, as an exchange student and graduated in 2001 with a Master’s degree in statistics from Portland State University. He also worked for a year as a research assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Bioscience division. He is currently assistant professor of statistics at the university of British Columbia (on leave) and research unit director of computational biology at the IRCM.
During his spare time, Raphael enjoys both watching and playing football. His favorite team is “l’Olympique Lyonnais” aka OL.
